Playing

The last few days we have been going non-stop. Monday we went to La Jolla shores with Lisa and played in the water and dug holes. Logan was out jumping in waves up to his head. He is such a thrill seeker. Teusday, we went to the Botanical Gardens with Lisa then the park and lunch at her house. We followed this by swimming lessons, shopping, and gymnastics. Gavin is such a trooper the kid will nap just about anywhere and Logan can run pretty much all day so it seems to be a great phase for the both of them. Today we swam at the Rizzo's with the steepest slide in all of San Diego. Logan has surprised onlookers since he was 2 years old with his dare devil moves on the slide. Gavin of course took a nap in his stroller while we enjoyed playing. Tuesday night, Logan gave me a spontaneous hug and said, "Mom today was such a great day! Thank you so much for taking me to all these fun things." He even had the tilted head and sincere look on his face to go with it. It made my day.

San Diego Fire Show

San Diego has a fireman competition/exposistion every year at Qualcom Stadium. All of the firehouses in San diego bring their engines, equipment, helicopters, etc. I don't know who is left to put out the fires??? Fire and firemen have been a passion of Logan's since we moved here and saw the fireshow at Legoland. Anything to do with fires is part of our daily life so this event was better than Disneyland or Christmas could ever try to live up to and it was free. Can't beat that. So Tom took the boys for an afternoon of fun at the Fireshow.
Logan was able to sit in various fire engines, watch the firemen compete, and tour the fire helicopter. He also met with real firemen who were very impressed with his fire suit. He came dressed up in his full gear just like the real fire men. His favorite part was flipping the switch to make the lights flash and hear a real siren. He felt like he was fireman for a day and the smile lasted for days.

Cancun

So I haven't really taken the time to figure out how to use this thing but I put up some pictures from our trip in Cancun so I wanted to write a few memories. Tom qualified for an all expenses paid work trip in May. Tom's mom watched the kids for us while we took our first real vacation of our lives. The kids did great and Gavin even started sleeping through the night, which was an answer to prayer.
We stayed at the Ritz Carlton which lived up to its name and enjoyed the service, pampering, food, views, and amenities. It felt like a dream. It actually took us a couple of days before we were able to relax and enjoy it. Tom was and still is in the middle of a transition at his Nursing Home and I was just coming off pregnancy, birth, nursing, and sleepless nights. However, after that we quickly adjusted to all the free time, relaxation, and fun. We were right on the beach so we went swimming in the pool or to the beach at least once a day. We also became scuba certified so we did a lot of diving and it took up a major chunk of our trip. We have wanted to scuba dive for a long time but it is hard to find that much time in regular life:) Anyway it was truly another world under the ocean and a very exhilirating experience. We also went to Couzemel, a mexican dancing show, and Tulum (ancient ruins). Tom went golfing and I got a massage at the spa. So it was pretty much lifestyles of the rich and famous. About a month after the trip we realized we were still spending as if everything was "put it on the tab" and had to curb our lifestyle back to reality.
My cousin Debbie and her family were all there as her husband Greg is one of the key players in the company. It was fun to meet her kids and get to know them a little better. We didn't really get to know anyone that well because we kind of made it a second honeymoon rather than a work trip. I think we offended some people in the beginning but it has been a long 4 years of job changes, more job changes, moving, and more moving, 2 pregnancies and 2 kids. It felt like we were starting a new chapter and beat out our first honeymoon by far. We are looking forward to planning more vacations and taking the time out to relax and enjoy each other as well as family vacations with the kids.

Mom and Dad Visit

We had a great week with the arrival of Lisa and Sam to San Diego and mom and dad visiting us for a few days. Lisa and Sam just moved to Encinitas which is about 20 minutes from where we currently live. Logan and Molly are already best buddies. It is so exciting to have more family close by. Mom and Dad looked great and we had a blast going to the beach, the pool, and all our favorite parks. Dad and mom took us out for meals except for my birthday dinner which we hosted??? Lisa and mom brought watergate cake and everyone told their favorite memory of me. There were a lot of memories associated with pain and tears???? Birth, mission, saying goodbye to a car:) Lisa and Sam had some positive ones like supporting her b-ball games and supporting Tom. Anyway one thing I want to do is remember all the funny things Logan says and use this as a journal as well.
